Current Activities
NACC is involved in a number of activities that support the career college industry and specifically its members and their students.  Here are a few of the current activities that we are involved in:

NACC Curriculum and Examination Service:
We develop and offer curriculum packages to members who are committed to maintaining the program standards set by NACC.  There are currently 4 programs available:
  • Early Childcare Assistant
  • Esthetics
  • Personal Support Worker
  • Pharmacy Assistant Program
For more information on this please contact our office at naccadmin@nacc.ca

The NACC will develop more curriculum packages for its members as needed.  For detailed information on the curriculums developed by NACC please refer to the NACC Curriculum page.

NACC Quality Assurance Initiative:
Endorsed by the members of the NACC in 2008, the Quality Assurance Initiative was established to set the standards for quality control for career colleges.  The Canadian Education and Training Accreditation Commission (CETAC) was originally established in 1984 as a third party to develop and implement quality control measures for Canadian career colleges.

On April 6th 2009 CETAC released a new set of accreditation standards that are currently serving as a benchmark for quality assurance and continuing quality improvement among Canada’s private career colleges.  Students, employers and others can be confident that a CETAC accredited institution meets or exceeds high standards of quality in Canadian post-secondary education.  To view the new standards click on the image below.

Annual Conferences:
Each year NACC holds a conference for all of its members.  The conferences bring together industry leaders to share and learn about the latest innovations and effective practices in education.  Sessions are also held to discuss a number of topics such as:
  • Media relations
  • Government policy
  • Accreditation programs
The 2012 NACC Annual conference will be held in Montreal, Quebec in early May.

Industry Representation:
We continually work with the Federal government to represent career colleges on different levels.  NACC has and will continue to work on projects and attend meetings such as:
  • Serve as a member of the National Advisory Group on Student Financial Assistance
  • Represent career colleges in front of parliamentary committees
  • Meet with elected officials and public servants
  • Participate in meetings with the Educator Engagement Steering Committee for the Canadian Tourism Human Resources Council
  • Produce an analysis of the latest Canada Student Loans Repayment Rates
Government Relations:
NACC has taken a proactive stance on issues that will affect its members.  To ensure that our members’ interests are voiced to the government, NACC has hired a reputable government relations company in Ottawa.  Flagship Solutions has been contracted to:
  • Enhance communications with key government officials so that NACC’s message is heard and understood
  • Closely monitor government actions related to education and specifically career colleges
  • Position NACC to be able to quickly respond to questions from the media and government
Educational Materials:  We continue to support and directly produce educational materials and industry studies to help our members. The following studies and reports have been developed or supported by NACC:
  • Steering Committee member of a National Survey of Private Career Colleges, Students and Graduates funded by HRSDC, and the Canadian Millennium Scholarship Foundation:
  • With funding from HRSDC, NACC helped produce an Innovative Practices Guide
  • Feasibility Study completed in part with Human Resources and Skills Development Canada to outline the beneficial market impacts,  as well as an economic analysis of the private career college industry
